Full Description
Perfect for small renovations and quick clearances - the 6-yard skip handles 40-60 bin bags and is our most compact option that still packs serious capacity. Fits easily on most driveways and side roads.
Is This Right for Your Project?
Perfect if you're:
Renovating a single bathroom or small bedroom
Clearing out a shed, small garage, or loft
Tidying up a small garden (30-40 wheelbarrow loads)
Doing an office or shop clearance
Small building jobs or repairs
Too small if you're:
- Renovating a kitchen (try our 8-yard skip)
- Clearing out a full garage or multiple rooms
- Major landscaping with heavy soil/rubble
Not sure? Most people doing bathroom renovations or garden tidy-ups choose this size.
What Actually Fits?
Think 40-60 black bin bags or:
- Bathroom renovation: Old bathroom suite, tiles, cabinet, flooring, packaging
- Small clearance: Shed contents, boxes, small flat-pack and wooden furniture, boxes, wardrobes, old tools, junk (upholstered chairs and mattresses need declaring), household junk
- Garden tidy-up: 2-3 tonnes of soil, hedge trimmings, old fence panels, turf
- Office clear-out: Desks, chairs, files, carpets, general office waste
- DIY project: timber offcuts, old flooring, tiles
Dimensions: Length: 2.6m Width: 1.5m Height: 1.25m - our most compact skip size
Weight limit: Up to 6 tonnes

Multiple car/van trips: £40-80 in fuel + 4-6 hours + lifting heavy items yourself
Council bulky waste: £25+ per item + 1-2 week wait + limited items
Skip = smart choice. Especially when you've got 40+ bin bags worth of waste.
6-Yard vs 8-Yard - Which One?
Choose 6-yard if: Small bathroom, garden tidy-up, or office clearance
Choose 8-yard if: Kitchen renovation, full garage, or bigger building project
Still unsure? Go with the 8-yard - it's only slightly more and you won't risk running out of space.

Do you need a permit for a 6-yard skip in Sheffield?
The rules below apply to a 6-yard skip on the road exactly as they do to an 8-yard.
On a drive or private land? Sheffield City Council's permit applies to skips on a highway. Anywhere else the placement is at your own risk, so pick a spot that can take the weight.
On any Sheffield highway? You need a permit. The council says a permit is needed to place a skip on any highway in the city. Tell us when you book so the permit can be sorted before delivery.
Sheffield permit basics
- Each permit is for one skip, one location and one period, and carries its own reference code. The council charges a fee, and permit fees are non-refundable.
- A permit runs for 15 days at most, and an extension can add another 15.
- Sheffield does not use automatic consent. The skip cannot go on the road until the permit has actually been issued.
What the council can require
- On yellow lines or where a traffic regulation order applies, the council's parking team has to grant a special dispensation first.
- Conditions can cover where the skip sits, its size, visibility to oncoming traffic, lighting at night and signing and guarding.
Before you book
- Give us the exact spot and any access restrictions when you book.
- Keep the load level with the top rim, without boards, and check our prohibited items list first.
