Full Description
Our largest standard skip for major projects and full clearances - the 12-yard skip handles 110-130 bin bags and is perfect when you're tackling big jobs. If an 8-yard feels too small, this is your answer.
Is This Right for Your Project?
Perfect if you're:
  • Clearing out an entire house or full flat
  • Renovating multiple rooms or a whole floor
  • Major building project or extension work
  • Large garden landscaping (60+ wheelbarrow loads of light waste)
  • Commercial clearance or shop refit
Too big if you're:
  • Just doing a single room (try 8-yard)
  • Small bathroom or bedroom (try 6-yard)
  • Limited driveway space (this skip is 12ft long)
Upgrade from 8-yard? If you're unsure whether your project needs 8-yard or 12-yard, the 12-yard is only slightly more and removes the risk of running out of space mid-project.
What Actually Fits? Think 110-130 black bin bags or:
  • Full house clearance: Entire flat or 3-bedroom house contents
  • Multi-room renovation: Kitchen + 2 bathrooms, or full floor refurbishment
  • Large building project: Extension waste, timber, and packaging
  • Commercial clearance: Office fit-out, shop refit, restaurant renovation
  • Garden project: Light garden waste only (see weight warning below)
Dimensions: Length: 3.7 m, Width 1.78 m, Height 1.68 m - our largest standard skip
Weight limit: Up to 8 tonnes
Important for heavy waste: This skip takes up significant space. If you're disposing primarily of soil, rubble, or concrete, consider TWO 8-yard skips instead - easier to position and manage weight distribution.
Why Choose easySkip?
  • Next-day delivery available (order before 2pm)
  • All-inclusive pricing - delivery, 14-day hire, collection included
  • Book online in 60 seconds - no phone calls needed
  • We aim to recycle 90%+ of your waste - environmentally responsible
Need a Permit? On your property (driveway/garden): No permit needed - but check you have 12ft of clear space On the road: We arrange the permit for you
Why Choose a Skip Over Alternatives? 12-yard skip: One delivery, 14 days to fill at your pace, we handle everything House clearance company: £400-800+ and you work to their schedule Multiple 8-10 tip runs: £100-200 fuel + 2 full days + exhausting physical work
For major projects, the skip is the smart choice. You control the timeline, not the other way around.
12-Yard vs 8-Yard - Which Size?
Choose 12-yard if you're doing:
  • Full house clearance (entire flat or 3+ bedroom house)
  • Multi-room renovation (2+ rooms simultaneously)
  • Major construction work (extension, loft conversion)
  • Commercial project with significant waste
Choose 8-yard if you're doing:
  • Single room renovation (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom)
  • Single garage or loft clearance
  • Small to medium building project
Price difference: The 12-yard is only slightly more than the 8-yard. If you're on the fence, go with the 12-yard - you won't regret having extra space, but you will regret running out halfway through.
Space & Weight Considerations
Space needed:
  • Driveway: You need at least 12ft × 6ft of clear space
  • Access: Delivery lorry needs 3 meters width to maneuver
  • Height: Overhead clearance of 15ft (cables, branches, etc.)
Weight limits:
Light waste such as flat-pack and wooden furniture, boxes, wardrobes, old tools, junk (upholstered chairs and mattresses need declaring) Heavy waste (soil, rubble, concrete): Max 8 tonnes - about 1/3 to 1/2 full Mixed waste: Spread heavy items throughout, don't pile all in one spot
Pro tip: If your project is mainly heavy materials like soil or concrete, book TWO 8-yard skips instead. Easier to position, manage weight, and often works out similar cost.

One skip for a big Glasgow project

Extensions, multi-room refits and whole-house clearances are what this size is for.

Ideal uses for a 12 yard skip in Glasgow

  • Extensions and structural work: Timber, offcuts, packaging and mixed building waste. Watch the weight if brick or concrete is involved. See our house extension guide.
  • Whole-house clearances: Wooden furniture, boxes and the contents of an entire flat or 3-bedroom house. Mattresses, sofas and chairs are prohibited. See our house clearance guide.
  • Multi-room renovations: A kitchen plus two bathrooms, or a whole floor, with one skip on site.
  • Commercial fit-outs: Office strip-outs, shop refits and restaurant renovations. Book your dates ahead of the trades. See our commercial fit-out guide.

Choosing the right size

12-yard or 10-yard? Take the 10-yard for a bulky furniture clear-out of a smaller property. Take the 12-yard if it's a whole house or a structural job. 12-yard or 14-yard? The 14-yard is for bigger projects, and for sites with the space to take it. If you can't decide between the 8-yard and the 12-yard, the 12-yard gives you more room and lowers the risk of overfilling the skip mid-job.

Weight

Weight limit: up to 8 tonnes. For heavy loads such as soil, rubble or concrete, two smaller skips are easier to place and manage. Keep the load level with the top rim, never above it.

Placement and permits

Planning for a 12-yard starts with the site. It is around 3.7 m long and 1.78 m wide, and it's tall, so check access, overhead cables and where the lorry can stand. Planning to put it on the road or pavement? You must get the permit from Glasgow City Council yourself. If it is going on your own land, tell us where when you book. Mention any site or access restrictions when you book, because a delivery that cannot go ahead can incur a wasted journey charge. A skip on a driveway, grass or pavement is placed at your own risk. We are not liable for surface damage, and a waiver may be required.
