Perfect for small renovations and quick clearances - the 6-yard skip handles 40-60 bin bags and is our most compact option that still packs serious capacity. Fits easily on most driveways and side roads.
Is This Right for Your Project?
Perfect if you're:
Renovating a single bathroom or small bedroom Clearing out a shed, small garage, or loft Tidying up a small garden (30-40 wheelbarrow loads) Doing an office or shop clearance Small building jobs or repairs
Too small if you're:
  • Renovating a kitchen (try our 8-yard skip)
  • Clearing out a full garage or multiple rooms
  • Major landscaping with heavy soil/rubble
Not sure? Most people doing bathroom renovations or garden tidy-ups choose this size.
What Actually Fits? Think 40-60 black bin bags or:
  • Bathroom renovation: Old bathroom suite, tiles, cabinet, flooring, packaging
  • Small clearance: Shed contents, boxes, small flat-pack and wooden furniture, boxes, wardrobes, old tools, junk (upholstered chairs and mattresses need declaring), household junk
  • Garden tidy-up: 2-3 tonnes of soil, hedge trimmings, old fence panels, turf
  • Office clear-out: Desks, chairs, files, carpets, general office waste
  • DIY project: timber offcuts, old flooring, tiles
Dimensions: Length: 2.6m Width: 1.5m Height: 1.25m - our most compact skip size Weight limit: Up to 6 tonnes

6-Yard vs 8-Yard - Which One?
Choose 6-yard if: Small bathroom, garden tidy-up, or office clearance Choose 8-yard if: Kitchen renovation, full garage, or bigger building project
Still unsure? Go with the 8-yard - it's only slightly more and you won't risk running out of space.

A 6-yard skip for one-room jobs in Birmingham

It holds around 40-60 bin bags and carries up to 6 tonnes.

Ideal uses for a 6 yard skip in Birmingham

  • Loft clear-outs: Old boards, insulation offcuts and stored junk. Plasterboard is a prohibited item.
  • Garden overhauls: Fence panels, hedge cuttings and turf from a medium garden. For heavy turf and soil, keep the load light or choose a smaller skip. See our garden clearance guide.
  • Bathroom refits: A full suite, tiles and flooring from one bathroom fit, with room for the packaging from the new one. See our bathroom refit guide.
  • Driveway and patio clear-outs: Broken slabs and edging, plus a few loads of soil. Mind the weight limit. See our driveway and patio removal guide.

Choosing the right size

6-yard or 8-yard? If the job is one room, stay with the 6-yard. If it's a kitchen plus anything else, or a garage and a loft together, book the 8-yard, so you don't overfill the skip. Single-room refits and driveway clear-outs suit this size. For a whole house, look at the bigger sizes.

Weight

Weight limit: up to 6 tonnes. Soil, rubble and slabs are heavy, so a driveway job can hit the weight limit before the skip is full. Keep the load level with the top rim, never above it.

Placement and permits

A 6-yard skip is a little longer than the 4-yard, so check the length of your driveway before you book. If the skip goes on a public road or pavement, you must get the permit from Birmingham City Council yourself. If it goes on your own driveway or land, tell us where when you book. Mention any site or access restrictions when you book, because a delivery that cannot go ahead can incur a wasted journey charge. Skips on driveways, grass or pavements are placed at your own risk: we accept no liability for surface damage, and a waiver may be required.
