Do I need a permit for the skip?
If you plan to place the skip on a public highway or any council property, you will likely need a permit. We can guide you through the permit application process and handle the arrangements for you. The time to secure a permit can vary, typically taking up to three business days, so please consider this in your planning to avoid any delays.
What can I dispose of in a skip?
Our skips are suitable for disposing of various non-hazardous materials such as household waste, garden refuse, construction debris, and furniture. It’s important to note that certain items are prohibited, including hazardous materials (like chemicals), electrical appliances, asbestos, and tyres. We provide a detailed list of disallowed items and are here to answer any questions to ensure compliance with disposal regulations.
How long can I hire a skip for?
The standard hiring period for our skips is up to 14 days, which is included in the initial hire cost. If you need the skip for a longer period, extensions are available but at an additional cost. Please contact us in advance to discuss your requirements and any associated charges. We strive to accommodate your schedule and ensure you have the skip as long as you need it.
How high can I fill the skip?
Safety is a priority when using our skips. Please fill the skip no higher than the sides to avoid overloading. Overfilled skips are unsafe for transportation and handling, and may result in additional charges or the need to remove excess waste. Following these guidelines ensures the safety of both our handlers and the public.
What is the cost of hiring a skip?
The cost of hiring a skip varies depending on factors such as the size of the skip, the duration of the hire, your location, and whether a permit is required. Our pricing is competitive and transparent, with detailed information available via our online quote tool. This tool provides real-time pricing updates and helps you calculate the total cost based on your specific needs.
How quickly can you deliver a skip?
We pride ourselves on prompt skip delivery, typically providing service within 24 to 48 hours of your booking. However, delivery times can vary based on your location and current demand. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during busy periods, to ensure timely delivery.
What happens to the waste once the skip is collected?
We are committed to responsible waste management. All waste collected in our skips is taken to licensed transfer stations where it is carefully sorted and processed. The majority of the waste is recycled, supporting sustainability and reducing environmental impact. Any non-recyclable waste is disposed of in compliance with current regulations.
Can I change the delivery/collection dates?
We understand that project timelines can change. You can reschedule the delivery or collection of your skip by contacting us at least 24 hours in advance. We aim to be flexible and will do our best to accommodate your new schedule.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept a variety of payment methods, including credit/debit cards, bank transfers, and offer flexible credit terms for businesses. Payment terms can be adjusted to meet your preferences, either at the time of booking or upon delivery.
How do I prepare for the skip delivery?
Preparing for delivery involves clearing and measuring the intended drop-off area to ensure the skip fits and is accessible. Protect any vulnerable surfaces where the skip will be placed, such as driveways, with plywood or boards. Also, check if you need a parking suspension or permit if the skip is to be placed on a public road.
What should I do if my skip is not picked up on time?
If your skip is not collected on the scheduled date, please contact us immediately. We strive for punctuality, but unforeseen circumstances can cause delays. Our team will prioritize resolving the issue promptly. We appreciate your understanding and are committed to ensuring that your skip is collected as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience. Please provide your booking details when you call, and we will update you with the expected time for collection. Your patience and cooperation help us manage the situation effectively.
