**Too big if:** doing a single room (try 8-yard), small bathroom/bedroom (try 6-yard), or if driveway space is limited (this skip is 12ft long).

**What fits:** Full house clearance (entire flat or 3-bed house contents), multi-room renovation (kitchen + 2 bathrooms or full-floor refurbishment), large building project (extension waste, timber, packaging), commercial clearance (office fit-out, shop refit, restaurant renovation), large garden waste (light waste only — see weight note).

**Heavy waste note:** If disposing primarily of soil, rubble, or concrete, consider two 8-yard skips instead — easier to position and better for weight distribution. Heavy materials should not fill this skip more than half-full.

- Once positioned, a 16-yard skip cannot be easily moved; plan placement carefully

**Permit note:** Due to its size, this skip often cannot be placed on public roads even with a permit in many areas. Confirm site placement before ordering. On private property no permit is needed, but adequate space is essential.

## What Can Go in a Skip

### Prohibited Waste Materials

Items prohibited include (but are not limited to): Fridges, freezers, tyres, paint, asbestos, gas bottles, clinical waste, electrical goods, mattresses, sofas, chairs, oil, petrol, diesel, hazardous waste, batteries, fluorescent tubes, plasterboard, animal waste, explosives, sharps, corrosive and toxic substances.

Any prohibited items disposed of in the skip may incur additional charges or result in non-collection.

### POPs Waste

Due to UK Environment Agency regulations, Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating (e.g., sofas, armchairs, beanbags, cushioned dining chairs) containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) must not be placed in general skips without prior declaration. Undeclared POPs items will incur significant surcharges (minimum £100 + VAT per item) to cover separation and specialist disposal costs.

## Loading Guidelines

- Skips must be filled level (no higher than the sides)
- Inert skips must be limited to 3/4 full
- Overfilled skips are unsafe and may incur additional charges

## Waste Management

All collected waste is taken to licensed transfer stations where it is sorted and processed. The majority is recycled to support sustainability. Non-recyclable waste is disposed of in compliance with current UK regulations.
